Basque Place Towns Story
I. For the Dawn of Time
When the ice ages receded and the primary human teams roamed the humid valleys with the Cantabrian Sea, the lands we now contact Euskal Herria have been by now a refuge. From the caves of Santimamiñe, Ekain, Isturitz, and Aitzbitarte, nameless arms remaining bison, horses, and symbols that also manage to resonate now.
They were being hunter-gatherer peoples, tailored to rugged mountains, swift rivers, and coasts full of fish.

These weren't centralized kingdoms, but somewhat tribal confederations. They practiced livestock farming, transhumant herding, and Atlantic trade.
Rome arrived, but under no circumstances thoroughly subdued them. The mountains, forests, and local resistance meant that Romanization was limited: roadways, bridges, agricultural villas… even so the language and plenty of customs continued by themselves route.
III. Among Empires: The Early Middle Ages
Once the slide of Rome, these lands lay among two worlds: the Frankish and also the Visigothic.
During this time, a reputation emerged that might resonate for centuries: Vasconia.
